Emporio Armani menswear spring summer 2010 full fashion show

Emporio Armani- This show probably one of best Armani shows lately. For this season Armani gave us great new twist on his classic – the three-piece gray suits trousers wrapped asymmetrically. The samurai inspired evening jackets paired with brocade shorts were very interesting. I would love to have any of those weave leather jackets in red or burgundy colours. The very sleek urban with Eastern inspired collection should be the uniforms for all global men.

Versace Men's Collection spring summer 2010

Versace Men's Collection spring summer 2010 runway video

The Versace Spring Summer collection for 2010 sticks with the signature Versace style - clean, light and masculine in a covert way.

Light colors dominated the fashion show - whites, light greys and tan browns. There was an element of the bohemian in the clothes, emphasised by the use of several necklaces and loose but fitting vests. The bohemian was interspersed with flashes of military elements in the coats and overcoats. All lightly layered to create a casual look.

Shits and vests featured plunging v-necks to the stomach, so its time to start toning up. Even some of the casual shirts were sheer and slightly see-through. Not for the thinly challenged amongst us.

Double breasted coats had a military cut to the front, yet still emphasised the masculine contours of the body. Military patterns in greys featured in some of the t-shirts and some of the sleeveless vests were distinctly military in appearance. Leather over - coats made an appearance, necklaces layered upon one another featuring heavily in most models.

The surprise of the collection were the tunics - several were shown all stopping in length between the knee and hip. Tunics are one of those items that when worn with modern clothes either look fantastic or a complete disaster. Versace swung wildly between the two extremes, getting it right in a Saharan looking tunic and woefully wrong in a tunic worn beneath a smart looking jacket. Overall we like the concept, but it needs to be made more masculine. In an year when men are becoming men again and not some metro-groomed semi-female quasi like creation, creating tunics that reek of femininity is not the way to go. Tunics are fine and just what men's fashion needs at the moment, but lets keep them masculine looking.

Dsquared2 menswear spring summer 2010 full show

Dsquared2 menswear spring summer 2010 full show Dsquared2 showed their admiration to the Canadian outdoors in their Spring/Summer 2010 menswear collection revealed in Milan this week. The twins Dean and Dan Caten have loads of experience to draw inspiration from as the duo calls Canada their home.

In an Algonquin Park-like setting, models strode down a wooden dock in fishing jackets, hip waders, rubber boots, socks and sandals, bright yellow and orange work socks, and fish gutting aprons. Details in the collection included matchstick necklaces, trimmed swimwear and small Band-Aids on knees and elbows.

Music by Canadian icons such as Joni Mitchell and Gordon Lightfoot played in the background, an ideal summer camping situation.

STYLE saggerz

Why Sag?
When dudes first started walking around with their pants sagging in the early 80's it looked really odd since pants were only cut narrow and straight. Most adults were repulsed to see a young man walking around with his underwear showing. At that time, wearing baggy pants was in its' infancy… One rumour was that youth were imitating convicts that sagged because they weren't allowed to wear belts in the pen. As a result their pants fell below the waist exposing their underwear.

Some feel that wearing baggy jeans has something to do with homophobia in high school. Eddie Murphy in his first stand-up show "Delirious" commented that, "You can tell when a fag is looking at your ass because you ass gets hot!" Well most straight teens did not want their buns to get "hot" or to have those assets looked at. So they concealed their behind in baggy pants. That was in the late 80's-early 90's.

Today many guys like the comfort feel of baggy jeans and think that tight fitting pants look gay. They are toally comfortable with their undies showing and their pants hanging off their butt. This has caused an explosion in the growth of designer underwear with a flashy and prominent elastic underwear waistband and colourful boxers.

Sagger boyz feel their baggy jeans and pants are comfortable even though they have to constantly hike them up before they lose them completely. They also think it makes them hip and with it and definitely not gay. And of course what is the point of sagging unless you can frequently hike up your shirt to show off a line of expensive designer mens underwear.

Why Parents & Schools Don't Get It
Many teens are convinced that unless parents start moving with the times, they will not understand their children's mode of dressing. Many parents cannot understand why their sons sport cargo pants, baggy T-shirts, big shoes, sagging jeans and other attire which is in vogue. They also curse pierced ears and tattoos which are very popular among teenage boys. Among girls, parents outlaw bare-back tops, 'mini' or 'micro-mini' skirts, stretch jeans, spaghetti-strap tops, tight trousers, pedal-pushers, tank-tops and skirts with long slits.

This gives rise to school regulations like these: "Pants must always be worn on the waist. No sagging, baggy, or droopy pants will be tolerated. The waist size on the pants may not be more than one size above what the student normally wears. Pants must be worn with a belt. Pants should be the proper length - they must not pile up on the shoes. Pants may not be torn, ragged, or colorfully patched. Clothing should be neat and in good repair."

According to many teens, schools along with parents and their kids will remain at loggerheads over the issue of dressing because "there is a world of difference between their dressing styles and ours."

C.P. Company Spring Summer 2010 Menswear
